Description

Parque zoologico de Lagos opened in November 2000 after the 3 heatares of land had been transformed into an animal paradise.
Zoo Lagos is an enriching reserve that welcomes all its members and the many thousands who come to visit each year.

Here the animals are not separated by breed but intermingle with each other. This not only makes it fun for the visitors to see, but better for the wellbeing of the animals as it is more comparable to how they would live natuarally. This could be why the zoo has had such good breeding success. Lagos zoo is one of only nine zoos in the world to have bred Marabou storks and three chicks were born here. Tina and her partner Donald the Gibbons have two sons Tobias and Lagos which were born here also.

Undoubtedly one of the main attractions is the primates, but the zoo is also home to lemurs, wallabies, lynxes, reptiles and tropical birds. There is a petting zoo which is a firm favourite with children.

This picturesque zoo is a family friendly enviroment which is a delight to stroll at leisure amongst over 120 different species of animal and 200 botanical species, offering a fun and educational day out for the whole family.

There is information on hand for those wanting to learn more about each species and, during peak season, keepers offer talks during feeding times and are happy to answer visitors´ questions. Feeding time is definitely one of the highlights of a day at the zoo and is not to be missed! You can watch the Cormorants and Pelicans being fed daily at 11:30am and 3:00pm and observe the antics of the primates during their feeding time at 4pm.

If you and your family are also in need of some light refreshments, Zoo Lagos has 2 snack bars to choose from within the grounds.

Really Enjoyable

The Chaplin Family from Huddersfield - 05/19/2009 00:31:58

We took the children to the zoo for the day and it had to be one of the best days of our holiday. I think us adults enjoyed it as much as our children. The monkey islands gave us hours of pleasure. If you haven't been here then you really much go there.
